saturday

Went here to get some new clothes. http://www.tangeroutlet.com/
Ended up with a new dress, shoes and jewelry to match,
and a new shirt! Love all of it, and just proud of myself for
spending money on me.

Layed in the tanning bed.

Went to Wal-mart for groceries. Making breakfast for our
Sunday School class tomorrow.
Using my new mini-muffin pan from Pampered Chef.

Making mini-quiches. Also a fruit tray, and a crumb cake.

Need to make some cards tonight before bed. Our neice is turning 2. Our nephew is turning 9. And my friend Laura has a baby on the way, due April 15.

this girl...

rocks. She is Lauren, my best friend. Has been my best friend for 9 years now.
Don't know what I'd do without her. I can always count on her!
She is what I miss most about Milledgeville!

We went and picked it up on Saturday! Totally pleased and happy with it! The footboard has one little boo-boo, but we are going to be able to swap it out for a new one. So here it is...

One year ago...

today we were moving to Athens.
Yesterday Alan and I were driving home from Alabama and asked him to describe this past year in
one word. We both agreed that "challenging" would be a great word to describe it.
This year has been full of change. Two new jobs. Buying a house. Leaving behind a great church.
Finding a new one. Leaving behind friends. Making new ones.

I grew up moving from place to place. My life has been full of change. But this move has been especially challenging. But it has helped Alan and I grow closer. I have learned more about who and what is more important in life. We have learned that God has placed us here for a reason (and hopefully a season) :). We are continuing to seek Him and the future plans he has for us.

I am thankful that this year is now behind us. I am thankful that I have a sort of settled feeling. I am thankful that I am not the new girl at work anymore. I am thankful that we have made friends, great friends at that. I am thankful that God has never left us.

Anyways. Of course I must share our little garden today. These things are growing like weeds...Hehehe.

And our first tulip bloomed today! Signs of new life! Signs of spring!

And looky what I found online... :)

dixie-doodle and our garden

I let Miss Dixie out to play in the yard earlier. Got a really cute picture of her.

She is so sweet. Such a good dog. I wish she didn't stink though.

And would you just take a look at these plants. They are growing like crazy. They trip me out.

I put my easter egg wreath up on Sunday night. I made it last year right before we moved into our house.

Only two more days till the weekend. We are going to Alabama to pick up our bedroom furniture. I am so excited. I need to get in there and start getting ready for it. :)

the beginning of our garden

Alan planted these plants a week ago today, and just take a look at these bad boys.
We are super excited about our garden!

bummed...

I thought I had almost twelve place settings, but I am several pieces short.

I just bought some china protectors. I came home and pulled out all my Dillards boxes and emptied them into there appropriate protector. Then I took inventory.

Here are the totals:

Dinner plates- 10

Salad plates- 7

Bread and butter plates- 10

Cups-9

Saucers-9

I have 4 soup bowls and the creamer.

I should have exchanged these for the pieces I really need and would rather have.

But it's too late. Now I guess I will be asking for these for my birthday

and Christmas until I have twelve of everything.

Isn't it just beautiful though. Alan helped me pick it out. And the goblets.

Just beautiful as well. And I have twelve of those. :)

things

My monogrammed cards finally came today! Yeah!!! I want more personalized cards/stationary from this website. http://www.atouchofwhimsy.com
I have ordered cards from her before and they were simply adorable!

Check out this adorable little baby blanket I got for my friend Cindy who is expecting
a little girl in April. Just had to take a picture and post it.

Just at home cleaning this afternoon. Getting some laundry done. Playing catch-up from the weekend. Looking forward to the coming up weekend. I get to go spend the night with Lauren in Milledgeville on Friday night. Saturday is the Wild Game Dinner at our old church, so we are going back for that. Can't wait to see old friends!!! It has almost been one year since we moved!

Well, Alan just got home and we are off to go get some dinner.

Hump day...

and so glad that it is. Ready for the weekend. We will be traveling to see Alan's family this weekend. Hopefully looking at some more furniture down there.

Got my hair chopped off yesterday. About 6 inches off. I am gonna go back on Friday and get some more layers added. I will just feel better then.

Just thankful for my health today. Something that I so take for granted, but was reminded of today. I took care of another 25 year old today who has already had 2 heart attacks. I guess at 25 we aren't immune to heart disease. Also at church tonight, someone told of a girl that just found out she has a brain tumor. She is only 22, and hasn't even graduated college yet. So thankful that God has allowed Alan and I to stay healthy.

I am planning a card/scrapbooking party for some of the girls at church. Bought stuff yesterday to make invites. Excited to share one of my favorite things to do with these girls. I will share the invites here when I get them done. :) I don't even have a date picked yet, so it may be a few days.

Also wanting and needing to have a yard sale soon so we can get rid of some junk. The weather is warming up, so it won't be long.

Well, I guess that's all for today. Leave me a comment.

Here's a peek at our new bedding...

We got our new king mattress on Saturday. Here is the new bedding! I think it turned out pretty well. It will look better when we get our new furniture in there.

Had to show this billboard on here. The message pertains to the Cardiac Cath Lab where I work.

Home...

from Alabama. Got away for the weekend to Mom and Dad's. It's always nice to get away. Especially after a crummy week at work.

Last week was a "go into my shell" week. Something that is totally not me. Sometimes it is so hard to work around non-Christians. The negativity is like a a haze, just clouding up my view on life. In general the people I work with are just un-happy, searching-for-something, negative people. When you spend fourty plus hours with them it is so easy to be discouraged.

I just don't fit.

I am not comfortable there.

I am alone, except for Christ.

Yet we are called to NOT fit and we are called to be UN-comfortable.

To be in the world, but not of the world. To be set apart. To be the salt. To be the light. TO BE DIFFERENT.

This world is not our home!

I say all that to say this...

God places us where He wants us, for His glory.

I know I am where I am for a reason.

I know that He will never leave me, or forsake me.

And I gotta rest in the fact that one day I will be with Him in my eternal home...

Bet ya didn't know...

that Alan and I are redneck nascar fans. Well on February 3, we were at our Sunday School party. Crystal and Michael hosted it for us. Let me introduce them to you...

First you have Alan and I.

Jamie and Bradley.

Zack and Jill...I mean Brittany and K-fed.

Then Crystal and Michael as trash and trashcan.

Russ and Shelley...I mean the Hulk and his wife!

Jennifer and Chayne as Raggedy Ann and Andy.

Scott and Angela...as Scott's parents.

Morgan and John... as Zack and Kelly from Saved by the Bell.

And last but not least sweet little baby Charlotte. She belongs to Anna and Michael!

We had a great time as you can tell! We are so thankful for the friends God has blessed us with here in Athens!

Cornflake candy, Neiman Marcus cookies, and new lamps...

Alan and I host a connect group for other nearly/newlywed couples from our church. We meet every Sunday night except for the first Sunday night of the month. We all bring finger foods and eat. We have a devotion time. Then we split the guys and girls up for prayer time. It has really helped us meet and get to know so many couples. When we first started going to Watkinsville First, there was not a group for people our age. So rather than go to another group, we decided we would start one. It has been such a blessing! This afternoon I made Neiman Marcus cookies, and cornflake candy. Both are just delightful. And thanks to my Mom for the cute Valentine's platter/bowl.

Yesterday we stopped into Hobby Lobby to look for a curtain rod. We got a curtain rod with our 40% off coupon. And we found these great lamps for our bedroom. The great thing about them is they were originally $119.00. And we got them for $23.00. Needless to say I am psyched about them!

First

Well, I have been wanting to start a blog for some time now. For whatever reason, I just haven't done it yet. So tonight I figured I would just go ahead and start one up.

Just to explain where the name of the blog came from. Everyone knows that is probably my most overused phrase ever!

So glad it's Friday. This week has been so incredibly busy at work. Yesterday I worked a whopping 15 hour day! Three of those hours in the middle of the night literally. I am just so exhausted. I am on call this weekend. BLAH!

I made a huge pot of vegetable soup tonight and some cornbread muffins. There is just something delightful about soup and wintertime. I just love it!

Alan finished our taxes tonight. We are getting back less than we got last year. But we are happy that we do not owe Uncle Sam. Hopefully, we can order our bedroom suite we have been watching for weeks now. It will be so nice to have something substantial, something that is ours, that we will have for a really long time. The room is painted. The bedding is waiting. All we need is furniture to complete the room. SO exciting!

Looking forward to relaxing tomorrow. I love Saturdays!

Well...I guess I am off to get some sleep!
